Buried Cities and Ancient Treasures Reviews
One of the most entertaining and enlightening books I read this year, and certainly the most surprising. A scientific work--archaeology, mainly--over 30 years old, which still manages to teach so much about not only the ancient history of Turkey, but also just how that history has been studied. Fascinating sections on Troy, Mt. Ararat, Namrut Dag, and mid-Anatolia. Half-scholarly report, half-travelogue, beautifully written, sadly forgotten...I enjoyed this immensely.
